Itinerary
DAY 1: PUERTO MONTT – ANCUD – CASTRO
Departure from Puerto Montt/Puerto Varas or airport to the mythical island of Chiloe. Arrival at Pargua Channel to cross via ferry to Chiloe. Upon arrival at Isla Grande tourists will continue their journey to Ancud. The excellent local seafood is a great option for lunch. Visit to the only penguin colony in Puñihuil, the only place in the world where Humbolt and Magallanes penguins nest together. Return to check in at hotel of your choice at Ancud or at Chiloe’s capital, Castro.
DAY 2: CASTRO – ACHAO – PUERTO MONTT
City tour through Castro. Visit to the wooden cathedral as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art (closed on Mondays). Transfer to Quinchao Island via ferry. The wooden church of Achao is one of the fines examples of Jesuit architecture protected by UNESCO. Upon return to the main island tourists will have the opportunity to visit Dalcahue before embarking on the return journey to the mainland. Tourists have the option of returning to the airport or a hotel in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas (accommodation NOT included).
